Portrait of a Senior Territorian 2024

I was honoured to receive the Young Artist Award at the Portrait of a Senior Territorian Art Awards 2024. It meant so much to have my painting selected for the exhibition and to see it alongside so many beautiful and inspiring portraits.

My painting tells the story of Jeffrey Lee, a proud traditional owner of the Koongara Region, Kakadu, who turned down billions to protect his country from mining. His strength, values, and commitment to his land inspired me, and I wanted to capture not just his likeness but the spirit of his story—a story of integrity, resilience, and what truly matters in life.

Creating this piece and being recognised for it was an unforgettable experience, and I hope it encourages others to learn about Jeffrey’s story and visit Kakadu.
