Lion_Original Painting

Story: I’ve had the desire to paint a lion all my life.I’ve always been drawn those kinds of animals. The kind of animals that are like no other, the ones that have eyes that stare straight through you. It’s this about the lion that I find the most beautiful. If you’ve ever had a face to face encounter with a large cat (lion, tiger ect.) you’ll know exactly what it feels like to look into their eyes. It’s an extremely humbling experience. It’s just you and the animal, and the both of you have the understanding of how vulnerable you truly are. 

Eyes have always been what I’ve been drawn to, I believe that the more you pay attention to one’s eyes, the more of an understanding you’ll have.

When creating this painting, I wanted the person looking at the canvas to feel drawn to the centre of the painting, to the eyes. I wanted to capture the confidence and essence of a lion.
